Hello!

I have also been learning korean for sometime... 3 years i would say and i recently came to the conclusion that if you already know the basic, you gotta take the risk for the rest.

The easiest way to improve any languages skills is always to have someone you can hear, talk and practice in whatever language you want, because that's how we even learn our mother tongues.

So if you're having trouble with it, search for some native speakers and write as much as you can without being afraid of mistakes, let them correct you and ask your questions so you're gonna start understanding it as the time passes by.

I just started this summer and I've progressed; I guess it just depends on the learner. But you don't have to learn at school; I've been teaching myself. This website is great for learning how to read 한글 (the Korean alphabet): http://www.learnlangs.com/RWP/Korean/Korean%20-%20Lesson%201.htm ;

It's a great website, really. You'll be able to read in no time!

And as for books to learn (that's what I've been using) here are a few:

-Elementary Korean

-Integrated Korean 1 & 2

That's all I can remember off of the top of my head...but if you search up "great books for learning korean" I'm sure you'll find some!

I didn't buy them; I borrowed them from a local library, or through ILL (a system for getting books)!

This YouTube video helped me a ton: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h63hSncXuCM ;

That's where I got the website for learning how to read Korean from. I definitely recommed using it.

I hope this helps ^^

And there's no need to apologize for your English! Or any mistakes in any language. You're learning^^ And that's great!

I will add this note to help with your English too^^

"i began to study the korean laguage for 9 years"

This sentence structure is not possible. You can't say "began to V for # years".

You can say either "began to V # years ago" or "have/has been Ving for # years".

So you could say "I began to study the Korean language 9 years ago." But more naturally: "I started studying Korean 9 years ago."

You could also say "I have been studying Korean for 9 years."

Saying "the _ language" is a bit strange. You can just say "English", "Arabic", "Korean", etc. "language" is implied from context.

"i think that i don't progress"

-> I don't think (that) I've made (any) progress. OR I don't think (that) I've progressed (at all).

"that" can often be omitted. "any" and "at all" add emphasis. They emphasize not making progress.

So all together: "I have been studying Korean for 9 years, but I don't think (that) I've made (any) progress."

___

How have you been studying? How are you studying now? Have you been studying at school or on your own?

And how have you been studying English?

:)

Knowing the answers to these questions will help me to help you.

I just saw your response! Sorry for my late reply.

You're welcome^^

Alexa's right - you don't have to study something in school to become good at it.

Here's my thoughts on learning vocabulary: http://www.italki.com/discussion/91279
I love the Korean Grammar in Use series of textbooks. You can purchase them from amazon.com.
I also adore these books from the Korean Ministry of Education designed for Koreans living in, well, not South Korea. You can view them online for free here: http://www.efka.or.kr/user/info/data.asp?leftNum=1
Other than that, I like talktomeinkorean.com and howtostudykorean.com.
endic.naver.com is a great dictionary, and naver.com itself is an awesome resource. I do occasionally use dic.daum.net too for a dictionary. Then, more generally, there's youtube.com, italki.com (hehe), lang-8.com, and tumblr.com (and other blog sites). There's Monash University's site too. Also gobillykorean.com.
Here's some free, older, online books too: http://www.koreanlab.co.kr/main/index.asp?t_id=1
Quality over quantity^^

Also, fluent in three months talks about language learning.

You need lots of practice and exposure!!
