I need to get the statistic of the way (of the reasons) people in China give their children particular names. I hope you will help me and be a part of my science work. All you need is just to tell your story, why did your parents give you your name or maybe why you have decided to pick particular name for your child(ren). Example: Hi, my name is 花. I got this name because my parents used to have flowery business… Smth like this :) You can also write info in Chinese, that will be great! I really need your help and I hope you will enjoy being part of scientific diploma work💓🙏🏻

In the past, Chinese people's names usually reflect an era of the history. Some names are considered old fashioned now, like "花“、”珍“、”英“、“红” for girls, which mostly those over 60s would have, and "卫国”(protecting the country)、“ 建国”(founding of the country)、“文革”(Cultural Revolution) are named for the males born in the 50s and 60s. My name "旭“ (rising sun) came from Mao Zedong's speech to the Red Guards that day in 1966 while my mother was gaving birth to me. Mao said " You young people are full of vitality just like the rising sun in the morning." My name, which marks the era of the "Cultural Revolution", is still popular now without the political significance though.
