赤, 紅, and 朱 ?
I know that 赤 is the kanji for あか, however what is the difference between the the kanji 赤, 紅, and 朱 ?
I mean the word 「あか」 has 3 different kanji.. but what is the difference between them?

一口に「あか」といっても、日本には様々な「あか」色があります。
たとえば日本の神社にある鳥居は朱色(しゅいろ)です。印鑑も朱色です。
実際に色見本などを見ればその違いが分かると思います。

You can consider 赤, 紅, and 朱 are all subordinate(more specific) concepts in the superordinate(higher) concept あか. The differences are as everyone explains. Each of them carries different images, as well.

赤 = red
紅 = crimson/brownish red
朱 = vermillion
紅茶 = black tea, referring to its actual color, so that indicates just how darkish 紅 really is.
