I came across an article online about "Artificial Sun" and would like to share it here. The article states we are facing a big issue called "Energy problem". The population all over the world will reach up to 10 billion in 2050 and we need new power resource which is over 40 trillion KWh. The amount of world power generation in 2019 was about 27 trillion. So, that means we need as much other power resource as the whole earth. In terms of power amount, cost, eco-friendly and safe, hydroelectric power generation and solar power are not enough and are not reality. One of the solutions to this issue is nuclear fusion generation which attracts a lot of attention these days.
It is said that nuclear fusion generation is to make artificial sun on the earth. The attempt is that we artificially create the same nuclear fusion reaction as one which generates inside Sun and extract the energy out of it. The fuel for nuclear fusion is heavy hydrogen and tritium. We can get them out of sea and they are called "inexhaustible energy source". In theory, one kiro gram(kg) can generate as much energy as 10 million kg fossil fuel. Now, the generation has a bunch of technical challenging, but Korea has cutting-edge technology on this and it has stayed ahead of the game.
Anyway, the technology is expected to be commercialized in 2040 or 2050. I will turn 85 around that time and I really hope the commercialization is a lot faster and is affordable for everyone.
