Noting down Out-of-Context Vocabulary and Memorizing it is the Least helpful strategy when it comes to learning new vocabulary. New words have to be Acquired, not Memorized.

This story uses words from '3000 most common words in English'. 

TV NEWS music plays and introduction animations fly across the screen. A reporter is standing on the street. Behind her is a loud group of protesters. They are holding signs and chanting. The reporter is yelling to be heard over the noise.

Reporter: I’m here in front of the Ace’s Chicken Company factory. As you can see behind me, 
protesters have gathered to take down the chicken giant. They are chanting Down with Ace and other slogans. They have set up a sound system and are playing loud hip-hop music—which, as insider sources have speculated, is Ace’s most hated genre of music. Let’s now speak to the leader of this movement, Sally. Why are you all out here today?

Sally: We’re not going to stand for the propaganda that Ace has been spreading. He’s published lies about me and is trying to manipulate the public perception of his slaughterhouse. The truth must be known. Ace’s chicken is killing people!

Reporter: And what do you have to say to the opposition? As you know, there is a vocal group of employees who have publicly commented that Ace is a kind leader who only wants what’s best for public health.

Sally: They have been paid off! My sources have told me that Ace personally approached every one of them and offered huge amounts of money, and if they declined, he said he would have their careers destroyed. Ace is only interested in how people perceive him. He isn’t a genuine
manufacturer. He’s a powerful baby!

Reporter: You heard it here, folks. Sally, an ex-employee, claims that Ace is spreading propaganda and paying employees to pretend. Sally, what is it that your group wants?

Sally: We want to see that evil dictator fall!

Reporter: Strong words. Back to you in the newsroom.

Hoy me ha venido a la mente una escena que me ocurrió hace poco más de un año, quizás bastante más porque con la pandemia, el concepto del tiempo lo tenemos un poco nubloso. Resultó que cuando una vieja amiga valenciana me visitó a casa, al observar una foto mía, de hará poco más de tres años, que estaba en la puerta de la nevera, me dijo: “¡qué diferente estás en esa foto! no parece que seas tú”. Hoy, al abrir la nevera y volverla a ver, la voz de ella ha resonado en mis tímpanos y honestamente, por más que miro esa foto no puedo ver “eso” tan peculiar que ella vio de diferente en mí y que yo soy tan obtuso de seguir sin poder verlo.

IELTS Speaking, Part One - Reading. [Band 8/9 answers]

La Ciudad de México está llena de lugares que bien podrían describirse como mágicos. Calles, museos, monumentos y avenidas inundan los alrededores de la capital mexicana. Una de las avenidas más largas y emblemáticas de la Ciudad es, sin duda, Paseo de la Reforma, que va desde el poniente de la ciudad, en donde se conecta con Constituyentes, hasta el centro con dirección al norte, conectándose con las calzadas de Guadalupe y de los Misterios, recorriendo 14.7 kilómetros de longitud.

A lo largo de su historia han ocurrido importantes acontecimientos, además de que es centro frecuente de manifestaciones populares y conciertos en donde se han reunido miles de personas. A lo largo de la avenida, que se podría considerar incluso la más importante del país, se pueden encontrar destacados recintos y monumentos, como la Fuente de la Diana Cazadora, el Ángel de la Independencia (el cuál es tomado como un referente icónico de la capital mexicana), la Torre del Caballito, la Bolsa Mexicana de Valores, la Torre mayor, la Estela de Luz, entre muchos otros. Es un lugar que no puede faltar en las visitas de los extranjeros que vienen a nuestro país.
