False Friends: Words That Look Familiar but Mean Something Else | Real British English #099
Описание
A false friend is an English word that looks like a word in your language but means something different. Because it looks familiar, you use it with confidence, and the listener hears something you didn't mean. A learner who says "Actually I live in Leeds" may mean "at the moment", but a British listener hears "in fact, to correct you".
In this episode:
• Time and opinion words
• Places and things
• Action words
• British traps
• A short invented scene
• Practice
• Self-check questions with answers
Key phrases from this episode:
