My favorite animal is tigers? Is the sentence right? if so，does 'animal' refer to the kind of animals?

It's not great, since IS is singular and TIGERS is plural. "My favorite animal is THE tiger" is best. "My favorite animal is tiger" is incorrect.

I think the "s" in tigers could be dropped. You like tiger, and not lot of tiger right?
