Репетитор сообщества🇦🇷 Small everyday habits in Argentina
In Argentina there are many small everyday social habits that people do almost automatically.
They are not written rules, but most people learn them simply by living in the culture.
Some examples:
1️⃣ Saying “Good morning / Good afternoon / Good evening” when entering a place
• When you enter a shop, office, clinic, or even an elevator, it’s common to greet everyone.
2️⃣ Saying “provecho” when someone is eating
• If you arrive at a table or pass by people who are eating, many people say “provecho” ("enjoy your meal").
3️⃣ Greeting with a kiss on the cheek
• In many social situations, even between people who don’t know each other very well, it’s normal to greet with a kiss on the cheek.
4️⃣ Offering mate if you are drinking it
• If someone arrives and you are drinking mate, it is customary to offer it. Even if they say no, offering is part of hospitality.
5️⃣ Using diminutives to sound more friendly
• Words like "momentito", "segundito", or "ratito" are often used to make requests sound softer or friendlier.
These are small details, but they are part of everyday Argentine culture.
