To get someone out of the room without caring what they do or where they go afterward, I can say:
1 Please step out! I need to work now! → polite, natural
2 Please step out for a moment! I need to work now! → polite, natural, a bit longer
3 Please step outside! I need to work now! → also polite, slightly more formal; here “outside” = out of the current space (if in a classroom → outside the class; if at the main entrance → outside the building)
If you just say bluntly “Step out! / Step outside!” with a harsh tone, it can sound like you’re challenging someone to a fight.
4 Please, leave. I need to work now!
But sounds more like a desperate plea than a polite request, but context is needed, really.
5 Leave the room, please! I need to work now!
Slightly polite but still a command.
6 Please leave the room. I need to work now!
A bit softer and more polite.
7 Go out of the room, please. I need to work now! Clear in meaning, not ambiguous like “Please go out!” (which could mean going out socially), but not very natural.
8 Go outside of the room → sounds unnatural, because “outside” is usually used for outdoors or larger areas, not with “room”
9 Get out! I need to work now!
Too rude!
For children, can use Out you go!
10. Out you go! I need to work now!
Avoid saying:
11. “Move out!” This sounds like an army command. Could possibly be used by a teacher to a whole group of students.
12. "Head out!" is unnatural as an imperative. As a phrase, it is rather like a civilian version of "move out". If someone said "let's head out", it would mean they want to start acting on a previous plan of action that begins with leaving.
Am I correct?
Thank you for all your helps!
