What's on the table? What possibilities are there if I answer the questions? Do the following sentences as answers to the question exit reasonably and grammatically? (1) There is some bread on it (2)There are some books on the table (3)My notebook and my workbook are on it (4)A red pencil is on the table

All these answers are grammatically correct. But if we're talking about the most naturally sounding answers to these questions in spoken English, then I would just say the items themselves: 1) Some bread. 2) Some books. 3) My notebook and workbook. 4) A red pencil.

I think like Hassan said, you can keep it short and sweet. But I like to encourage students, especially if they are trying to learn sentence structure, syntax to write it out in full sentences and then get fancy-shmancy (not a real phrase) later. Great writ by the way!

In grammatical construction you may just have to edit the appearance of repititon. In this case the subject is the 'table'. And since thise has already been expressed in the question, the pronouns used in the answers are repitition. So it maybe best that each answer just highlights the subject which is on the table without having to repeat in the answer that its on the table. Example : Ans: A red pencil
