There are two old Chinese sayings worhing thinking about. One is that it's hard to build a country, but it's harder to run a country. Qin dynasty spent 100 years six generations to a unified country, but it just spent 15 years to ruin it with a tyrant. The other saying is that it takes one generation many years to get rich, but the family become beggers only after two generation. A grandfather walked to everywhere to sell things, his son drived to restaurant to meet business partners, and his grandson stay home doing something just for fun. We have never seen a dynasty last until now. but we have witnessed many brands disappeared all of a sudden due to making some wrong decisions. So, as for a family business, how to teach a good inheritor is the most annoying problem since the business built. Though they believe that if the inheritor is from their family, he or she must want the business get better, the result is usually out of their expection!

There are two old Chinese sayings worth thinking about. The first one is: “it's hard to build a country, but it's harder to run it”. The Qin dynasty spent 100 years and six generations to unify the country but it just took 15 years to ruin it with a tyrant. The second one is: “it takes one generation or many years to get rich, but it takes only two generations for a family to become beggars”. A grandfather was a nomad merchant, his son drove to restaurants to meet business partners and his grandson stayed home having fun. We have never seen a dynasty lasting but we have witnessed many brands disappearing suddenly due to poor decision making. So, for a family business, passing it on to an heir is the most challenging part when it comes to keep the business alive. Though they believe that the heir must want the business to keep flourishing and growing, the result is usually out of their expectations!
