What does this question mean: “do you want to hook up?” and why is English so ambiguous , vague, or confusing? Why the reason? Thanks a lot!

Another example is "Let's hook up at 8." Although "hook up" alone can mean "have sex", this example would probably not mean "have sex" but would mean "Let's meet at 8."
"hook someone up" does mean connect someone with something or someone.
"Can you hook me up with a good book?"
"Mark and I hooked up last night." - This sentence almost surely means that they had sex.
"I hooked up with my friend Hannah at around 10pm last night and we went bar hopping." - This sentence does not mean that they had sex, but rather that they met up and hung out.

I think in American is more of an expression for a casual sex.
You might be familiar with the word hooker, derives from it.
Both informal
English is beautiful - exactly for these reasons.
Many words have literal and non literal meanings.
With the phrasal verb to “hook up” is the same
So now you have discovered the non literal and the literal would be literally physically hooking something up or hook up my computer with a printer…
