A strange man I just started to talk to said to me “I like you”. It really shocked me. How could a stranger show that he likes a girl without even knowing her? But, finally, I realised that the man was just showing me respect, it wasn’t about love.

Good description May! "Stranger" = someone who you do not know (neutral meaning). "A strange man" = a man who is weird/unusual (negative meaning). Of course, both of them are possibly correct haha, but it depends on your intended meaning.
