Verb يلقي
Hi, I have read in the newspaper the following headlines:
بايدن بصدد تلقي تقارير استخباري
الأرجنتينة تلقي النظرة الأخيرة على إبنها المدلل
In the first تلقي means Biden about to receive intelligence reports, but in the second... does it mean Argentina takes a last look at her son? Does the verb have both meanings? Thanks!!

Written with diacritics (these “small things” that are written on Arabic words which tell you the exact, unique pronunciation of a word)
In the first sentence, تَلَقِّي means “receiving”, i.e. it’s a noun in Arabic. بصدد تَلَقِّي means “about to receive”. In English it’s translated with a verb as you can see.
In the second sentence, تُلْقي is a third-person(can also be second-person, see below) singular feminine verb which literally means “she throws”. Translated to English: “she (Argentina) takes (“throws”) a final look at ...”
أنت/هي تُلْقي you/she throws
هو يُلْقي he throws
أنا أُلْقي I throw
Etc.
I hope I didn’t overcomplicate it. If you have questions, go ahead.

Yes, as the friends said.. the 2 words are not the same: 1st تَلَقِّي (gerund), 2nd تُلْقِي (verb).
Interestingly, you can say “throw your sight” when you mean: take a look
