Now I'm gonna tell you what's my favourite food and why I like it so much. I'm Italian and here in Italy, people have some habits during the meal. As you may already know, Italian people eat pasta almost every day at lunch. Another habit they have is eating bread together with meat (main dish). I don't know if this kind of rule is also common abroad, but for some people here, it's hard to think about eating meat separately from the bread. That's a rule that I like to break always. I love bread but I really like to eat it by itself, not together with other food. My father and my grandpa often criticise me for that but I'll tell you why it's so tasty eating bread by itself in my region. First of all, I need to tell you that the type of bread is something that differs according to the region you are. For instance, I don't like the bread of Northern Italy regions, since it's often saltless and chalky. I don't like that consistency. In central Italy, bread can be tasty, even if it's also saltless. The reason why it's saltless there can be found in some urban myths, historical events (such as the opposition to the increase of the salt tax ordered by the Pope in the old times), but also in the culinary habits of the inhabitants. The regions in central Italy are, in fact, used to eating several types of meat, that can be more or less salty, so no need to add more salt to the bread. The bread that I like more is the one in my region. It's salty at the right point and also its consistency is very good. Bread with olives, nuts, seeds, green, and meat-spotted can be also found. I don't know how is the bread in Southern Italy but I suppose it's not so different from the one in my region. When I was younger, I used to eat very often a kind of bread called "rosetta" (little rose), also called "michetta".
