So, today I want to write about one of my favorite foods, called "Pastel" [QUOTES ARE NECESSARY]. Pastel is very popular in Brazil, and it’s usually sold at street marketS. My favorite pastel flavor is "cheese". Just cheese. But there are many flavors, both savory and sweet. And, the drink that goes best with pastel is Caldo de Cana. [I'm not sure what you mean by "just cheese"]

Two details. You should only capitalize (make the first letter a capital letter, a maiúscula) things that are "proper names." A brand name (marca) is a proper name. A general name for a kind of food is not. So you do not capitalzie "pastel" and "caldo de cana." On the other hand, you do capitalize "Pastelão de Maluf" and "Guaraná Antartica." You should put "pastel" within quotation marks the first time you use it. One reason is that you say it "is called," as if someone were speaking. There's a particular reason this is important here. It happens that there is an English word "pastel." It is an artist's term, for a kind of paint. It produces pale, delicate colors, and the most common meaning of "pastel" is English "pale, delicate colors." I believe that is also one of the meanings of "pastel" in Portuguese! By putting the word "pastel" within quotation marks, you are telling the reader "I don't mean the English word 'pastel,' I mean a Brazilian food whose name in Portuguese happens to be spelled the same way."

Carol, when you say "just cheese," do you mean that it is the only flavor you personally like, and the only flavor that you ever buy?
