It is likely used in regions where there is a sizeable population that speaks the language, likely Spanish. Hope this helps, Alina! :)

"Bodega" is a common word here in Philadelphia, where we have large Puerto Rican and Dominican communities. It is also common in NYC and other parts of the urban Northeast U.S. I have never heard it in the middle of the U.S., where I have spent some time working lately. In Philly, we use the word "bodega" to refer to a small grocery store/supermarket in the city. It is a Spanish word, but people who do not speak Spanish word, but people who do not speak Spanish also use it in this way. A bodega's products may be oriented toward Spanish-speaking communities or not. It depends on the bodega. "Corner store" would be a synonym. For me, a "convenience store" is a small chain store (i.e., Wawa, Sheetz, 7-Eleven) that sells a variety of everyday products. Convenience stores don't have to be in the city, but they can be. Many convenience stores are in suburbs or rural areas. Bodegas are usually independent and urban. At least in Philly. I have never heard "bodega" used to mean "warehouse" in my region.

In New York area it is a "corner store" or a convenience store that sells food too. In other parts of the US it is only known because of references in popular culture. I live in Texas and have heard of "bodega" also used to mean "warehouse"

In the United States, it is only used to refer to stores that call themselves "bodegas," which are in found in Spanish-speaking parts of many big cities. In my town, we do not have any "bodegas." We have "convenience stores." That may be a name local to our state and may have something to do with licensing laws for places that sell food. "Convenience stores" are small stores that sell nonperishable packaged food items--canned, Ramen noodle soup... a refrigerator case with some limited choices of milk, cheese, soda, a freezer case with ice cream and some instant microwave meals. Candy, snack foods, cigarettes. Newspapers, magazines. Lots of lottery tickets, maybe a table in back to play video Keno.

I live in California and I don't think I've ever heard this word used before.
