Hi everybody
I am practicing writing a small paragraph.
The topic is:
In some countries, more and more people are becoming interested in finding out about the history of the house or building they live in.
I am still confused about the grammatical points of sentence above.
Below are some sentences:
1.finding out about the history of the house or building they live in.
(the + singular form)
2.finding out about the history of house or building they live in.
(without the article "the"+ singular form))
3.finding out about the history of the houseS or buildingS they live in.
(the + plural form)
4.finding out about the history of houseS or buildingS they live in. (without the article "the"+plural form))
Which sentence should I use,
1. If I would like to refer people who have only 1 house/ person
2. If I would like to refer people who have more than 2 houses/ person
3. If it doesn't matter that how many houses / person have ( may be 1 house, or 2, 3 houses...), I just want to say people having house in general.
Many thanks in advance.

Hi hi!! Hope i can help with piecing these together:
For this scenario:
If I would like to refer people who have only 1 house/ person
I would use the first option mainly because it is very straightforward and direct:
finding out about the history of the house or building they live in.
(the + singular form)
For the second scenario:
If I would like to refer people who have more than 2 houses/ person
I would use:
finding out about the history of the houseS or buildingS they live in.
(the + plural form)
And finally for the third i would also use:
finding out about the history of the houseS or buildingS they live in.
(the + plural form)
Mainly because it encompasses all the scenarios above with the plural form. Hope you find this helpful ☺️
