An outlet or socket is the set of little holes in the wall where you can plug something in. "Socket" has some other meanings, but I don't think they're what you're getting at here. A plug is the chunk of plastic with prongs that you find at the end of an electrical cord. You can plug (verb) a plug (noun) into an outlet or a socket (two words for the same thing) in the wall. I've never heard the term "plug socket" in the U.S., but English speakers from other places might use the term. I hope that helps!

Hi Jessica. I use both plugs and outlets.
I need the computer plug. (Plug as in the device).
Do you know where I can find an outlet my phone is dying? I use this when asking for a place to plug a device in.
Let's chat more. My schedule is open for new enrollments. We can go over lots of ways to use different vocabularies. I invite you to look at my profile, reviews and schedule. I teach adults and children of all ages and levels. I have discounted packages and trial classes. See you soon.
