My favourite series is called "choti sardarni". In this show a boy loses his mother when he is 2 years old. However, his father gets married again. The boy's stepmother loves him very much (or: loves him to bits or adores him) and the little boy gets too much attention from her. It makes me cry.

If a boy is young of age is rather "little". "small" means that he's not tall.
