Hi ☺️ I am still a beginner and I have just jotted down I think fifteen different ways of asking how old someone is depending on formality and age group. I know that when you want to know someone's year of birth in an official situation you can say:您是哪一年出生的? And I have also come across several ways of asking how old an already mature person is. What I have failed to find though is a question that's used to inquire about one's boss's, a stranger's, one's superior's age etc. More contextual information: These people are the same age as you but you have to be polite because that's what the situation requires. Is it natural to say 您多大 ? in this situation? And what if you're on a first name basis with your boss or superior (you are allowed to say 你 to them instead of 您) but they are scenario 1 older than you and scenario 2 your age and scenario 3 younger than you? Will 你多大?do in these three scenarios or not really? How do you ask how old they are? I'd really appreciate it if you shed light on these things because there are so many ways one can inquire about someone's age in Mandarin.

你多大了is a common way to ask someone’s age, who is not much older than the person asking the question. 您多大岁数了? is a usual question of inquiring age towards whom much older than someone who ask the question,as well as “您高寿?” is a formal way to say that. Let me know if you have any further questions.
