Could you review this paragraph to see if it is grammatically correct and natural? If not, you are welcome to make corrections.
Here goes.
"Despite the global COVID-19 pandemic, the Office is still making efforts to break through the restrictions for the sustained benefit of international exchanges. In addition to promoting the existing student activities, Professor Lee has participated in a series of online meetings, for some of which he invited the faculty members from the College of Engineering, among others, to join, leading to the establishment of a partnership with a university in Indonesia and Ukraine."
I wonder there's something wrong with the clause starting with "for some of which". Thank you very much!

Ethan, your written English is great — definitely better than the average educated native speaker. Here are a few points:
1. The definite article — do we really need it with “existing student activities” and “faculty members”? It’s potentially correct either way, and the difference is subtle.
2. Order of phrases in the first sentence: “for the sustained benefit of international exchanges” probably does *not* refer to the nearest antecedent (restrictions), so it might be better to reword it so that it is next to the word or phrase it modifies.
3. Your second sentence is correct and easily comprehensible. Nevertheless, it’s rather long, so I’d recommend removing any extraneous material that may distract from your main point. Is it necessary to talk about “participation” (this word is semantically light) in meetings? If we just mention that Professor Lee has invited faculty member to a series of online meetings, then it’s obvious that he participated in them.
Question: Is it just one university in Indonesia and Ukraine? If there are two universities, then use the plural (“universities”).

Hi Ethan. I hope you are great.
Are you open to reconstructing the sentence altogether? Especially from the second line of the paragraph?

Thank you, Phil! It’s flattering. My English is not as good as you thought, though. I was not an English (or interpretation/translation-related) major and cannot do the writing simply at the stroke of a pen. I have to check the grammar and word usage (even ask for help like what I’m doing now) on the Internet frequently to make sure it is grammatically correct and sounds as much like a native speaker as possible. It’s a very time-consuming task and not easy to do. Besides, my work (news reports or translated official documents) represents the school’s image and that’s why I’m so serious about it.
1. This is a report to be put on the school website, telling what the Office has accomplished in the past semester. We hosted student events as usual (but some took place in an online format), and Dean Lee put a lot of effort into online meetings with foreign institutions to sustain int’l relations (establishing partnerships, negotiating cooperative plans, promoting the school’s int’l programs, etc.). That’s my focus in this writing. The target audience is the foreign teachers and students on campus, and, of course, those who from abroad view our website.
2. “international exchanges” is translated from my original Chinese version. What I’m trying to say is “a variety of communication” and not limited to “exchange program”. Would you tell me what “with all their benefits” means at the end of the sentence? I don’t quite get it.
Again, thank you very much!
