In my view, there are many points which you should consider while choosing a book to read in a foreign language for example in English:
1- Your actual level of English, especially vocabulary and reading skills.
2- Which field you are interested in
3- your purpose in learning English " Academic or General"
4- You will read it your self or you have a partner to discuss what you have read
This is just a perspective to be sure that you are on the proper direction.
It would help a lot if you told us what you are interested in!
I had a "breakthrough" in my Spanish reading when I discovered that I can actually read adult-level nonfiction on a topic I have some knowledge of... whereas fiction is still relatively tough. So I would suggest you consider nonfiction.
