what is the meaning of someone 'with a flourish'

I knew the meaning of flourish, but I can't understand what is a person with a flourish. Here are two examples on online dictionary.

In this context the word flourish is describing the action. When something is done "with a flourish" it means that the action is exaggerated to impress or get the attention of other people. So, if someone takes off their hat "with a flourish", they don't simply remove their hat, but they make a show of the process.

It means it is done with an unusually large, sweeping movement.  Taking off one´s hat with a flourish, is seen in movies like ¨The Three Musketeers¨, where they sweep their hats off and bow deeply.   If someone hands you something with a flourish, they do not just simply hand it to you, they make a big sweep or swirl it around as if it is something dramatic.


The flourish is not a characteristic or thing the person has. The flourish is the extra movement they are adding to the motion.

i think it means that the person do something with a flourish , he's an arrogant person or someone is boasting ..
