Pinyin of "谁" ¿"shéi" or "shuí"? In some books, I've seen they write 谁's pinyin like "shéi", but I have a book where its pinyin is written like "shuí". I asked my teacher for this and she told me she only has seen the "sheí" pinyin. I'm a little confused. She is not native and she learnt Chinese with Taiwanese teacher. Is it by a regional idiom or can it simply be pronounced in both ways?

It can be pronounced both ways. The character is the same but both pronunciations are used. I usually hear shei but sometimes do hear shui.

“shei”is right.“shui” is just like a kind of dialect.if you want to learn standard mandarin, you must speak “shei ".

I would say they are both correct. If in doubt, you can type them in pinyin and they should both come up with the same character. I suspect it is regional (they pronounce things differently in Taiwan compared to China compared to Singapore, and again in the different regions in China).

"shéi" and  "shuí" are all correct. You can use both of them to talk to others, and people can totally understand what you mean. But there are more Chinese pronounce "谁" as "shéi". "shuí" as a pronunciation is kind of out of date, but which does not mean it is incorrect. On the other hand, if you are going to take a Chinese exam, or Mandarin exam, or type this character, using "shuí" would be nicer.
