What is the difference between "my and mine" in English? Need help...

My is the "possessive adjective" so we use it always with a noun, where as mine is a <em>possessive pronoun</em> meaning we don't use with a noun, it's often used alone. An example would be "<em>This is </em><em>my</em><em> car" </em>vs <em>"This car is </em><em>mine</em><em>" </em> There isn't a different meaning however, using mine often has a stronger/less polite tone to it.
