"work" dynamic or state verb?

Good question — the answer depends on why you want to know. Let’s keep in mind that many verbs can refer to actions or states, depending on how we use them. If we say “he is working in his office now”, it’s an action. If we say “he works late every Friday”, it’s an action. If we say “he works at XYZ Corporation” or “he’s worked at XYZ Corporation for the past two years”, it’s really more like a state (if it were an action, we’d use the continuous). We could express the same idea using a stative verb such as “to have” or “to be”: He has a job / is a worker at XYZ Corp.”
