What do you think is the best way to lose weight?
Create a diet you like. If you don't like it, you are more likely to give up after a short time. E.g. no snacks and soft drinks, light dinner and no food after 7pm. Make yourself some salads with tofu and eggs, fruits with yoghurt. Try to be vegetarian during the week and just have meat at weekends. It worked fine for me and I lost 5 kg within 10 weeks. Sports would be the icing on the cake ;)

If you think you really need to lose some weight then I completely agree with Victor, the only right way is physical activities. You can start with walking. You don't even have to run. Just walk. The more you walk, the more you lose weight.
