Do you often use swear words in your daily life?
When I watch some American TV series, I find that characters often use "swearing words".
So, I want to know, in your culture, do you often do that in your daily life?

I believe there are no bad or good words in the language because of a language is a part of our life. There are inappropriate words. Sometimes I use f-words to enhance expression when the situation allows. As for me, I prefer to use cuss words than euphemisms if it is possible it sounds more natural. Nevertheless, I think it isn't a good idea to use swear words as synonyms of everything and talk like this in public places.
Besides, it is a part of your image. One famous Russian designer and owner of big company Artemy Lebedev very often use f-wards in a public and media spheres. He used to use this technic to shock the public and attract attention but now it is a part of his image. In so doing, he continuous to look like and to be the cleverest man.

I don't think it has to do with culture, but one's behavior in different surroundings.

I personally am influenced by company of people around me and talk with them in their language.

I am not sure if it's right, but I communicate with people in the language, that they understand.

Moreover In  my opinion proportional use of swear words helps us to emphasize our thoughts and feelings, but again, not in every company.

As for the real life, the younger people the more swear words they use.

At my workplace swearing is a regular  and usual thing and sometimes I let myself go, but never do it at home or in the company of my friends or women.

Most Americans do not use swear words nearly as much as in TV and movies. The situations on TV and in movies are not real life — why would people watch real-life boredom? :) Often, they include such foul language for the shock value or to get the public talking about their movie (this is a great way to get all the people who don't like such language to talk...).  Also, the US may not be as big as China, but with 50 states and over 300 million people, it is still big and diverse, and neither Hollywood nor New York is representative of the entire country. In general, most Americans respect traditional values much more than what you see in the entertainment industry. What’s the situation like in China?

Swear words are mainly used with close friends, in heated arguments, and during stressful situations. In business and every day situations, it is best to avoid using such language. The F*** word is seems to be used a lot in TV shows, movies, and music, but is actually quite offensive in most situations. My suggestion is that people avoid using swear words until they are fluent in English and have a good grasp of the culture. Not using such language will cost you nothing, but using such language in the wrong place could be very costly.

Elena, if what you meant is that those, who widely use swear words are all bad, shallow, uneducated and indecent, I disagree with you.

This kind of generalization doesn't always work for everybody.

There are loads of well educated, well rounded and f*****g polite bastards out there.
