What's the most offensive word in your language and what does it mean?
Perhaps this thread will be deleted but I'm curious as I think it can say something about the culture.
I think there would be differences in opinion from different English speaking countries so it's difficult to say.
The list of banned words which can't legally be broadcasted by any U.S. radio station is in a U.S. Supreme Court report. The case was about a radio program called "Filthy Words", sp[oken over the air on October 23rd 1973, by comedian George Carlin. The court report includes a transcript of the radio program. The original seven words were shit, piss, fuck, cunt, cocksucker, motherfucker, and tits. Three more words later added were fart, turd, and twat.
Now that's a dare!
I figured that 'cunt' would be the most offensive word in the US but it's quite commonly used where I live so it's not as offensive.
I guess the most offensive word would probably be "cunt", and this is quite commonly used in combination with many other words, for example "you fucking cock-sucking cunt" When people are just utterly disgusted with something, they may call someone a whore, for example "you piss-headed whore! What the fuck!!!" Fore more American swearing, watch the youtube videos of "The Tourettes Guy" they are riddled with them.
