I see. But its real value might be quite questionable as English is well-established as the business world's lingua franca and the Chinese speak good English. 

Until fairly recently it was not, but nowadays it is becoming very popular because it is seen as an advantage, escpecially in the field of business, to be able to speak and understand Chinese.
