as i have learnt italian for 2 months . i have to say those grammars just drive me nuts !
now im confused about the prepositions and when they combine together wiz articles. its not a problem to remember how they combine, but the thing is im lost when i need to choose a preposition for a phrase. sometimes it make sense if i try to comprehend with english but sometimes i just wanna say "vaffanculo"!

About your problem, I think that there isn't a rule and even if you can apply some rules about the use of prepositions, there will be so many that nobody can remember. The only way I know to use them correctly is practice. Read italian texts and speak with Italians.
