I Need Your Opinion! 1. The lost time never comes back.
Or
The time once lost nerve comes back.
Which one makes sense to you?
2. He died of an electric shock in the kitchen last night. Oh my goodness! I was with him yesterday night and he asked me to make him some tea, but it slipped his mind - there but for the grace of God go I!

In this example I would omit the word 'The' as you are referring to 'Time' in general, and not a specific point in time:

Time lost, never comes back;

Once time has been lost, it never comes back;

Time: once lost, never comes back;

You can never get back time that has been lost

as opposed to:

Five minutes is the time it takes to make a cup of tea

2 - I would either say: "Last night" or "Yesterday evening".

If he asked you to make him a cup of tea..... did it slip 'his' mind or was it you who forgot to make the tea, therefore making it "it slipped my mind"
