What's wrong in India? R.I.P Damini Few days ago, an indian girl was brutally gang raped by 6 men in Delhi (India). Damini (name given to the victim) and a male companion boarded a bus in the evening , and were assaulted by six passengers already aboard. The victim's friend was beaten, gagged and knocked unconscious with an iron rod. The men then dragged the woman to the rear of the bus beating her with the rod and raping her while the bus drove. She was so severely injured, that she was on the verge of dying in hospital, this happened on 16 december, this year. Today, 29 december... after struggling for her life in hospital..she died. "Damini" was a Hindi film, released in 1993, featuring a woman's struggle against society and her family for justice for a rape victim. She has been named Damini, symbolically. I read the news today, and this makes me really, really sad, I can't understand why people are so cruel and mean. They are just cowards, animals.. this is utterly disgusting... Some indian people told me, this is quite common in India, women are not safe at all. If a man can not respect a woman, he should not be accepted in the society. I found this photo on net, some indian person said this national shame should be celebrated everyday in india, as almost every day there is some abuse... , and this is really alarming. This makes me sad, but what really makes me angry is the opinion of some people who actually blame the victim: for being out late at night, for being divorced, talking to strangers, drinking, dressing “provocatively” etc. And i can not tolerate this. A man who insults, beats...rapes a woman, is not a man, is not even human, is just disgusting trash that needs to be cleaned from society. Rest in peace, dear Damini.

Yes,these kind of happenings are the black spot at the face of this so called cultural socities,when i hears these kind of news,i feels took gun and shoot those bastereds, indian socities have many layers, we try to show westren world that we are going to be very modren. But in actually we dont even know the meaning of being modren, in brain we mostly are still jungli, law is another thing.police is another thing, but what need to change first is our thinking,way of teaching childrens,our own bdhaviour towRds socity.it can be long long dicission and would add more words only. Just be good and try to make good around you. Everything woud be good... We cant wait for others or this so called god to make everything right,if we feels right and have human in us then its us we can do this and have to do this.

patineuse, i dont think porn movies or videogames are the problem, many people watch and play and they are completely normal. The bad thing about it is that porn is only focused to the pleasure of men, it is more for the pleasure of men than women.. and the way the treat women sometimes in those movies are not the most adequate one , i agree in that. Our views should change a little bit, because there's still sexism all around the world!

It will be happen till men enjoy the porno video where sex with many men looks like norma. It is the same when they transfer shooting in video games to the reality. They don't understand anybody's pain, they seek pleasure for themselves. It is so terrible.

Steve H , yes, normally in poor areas women have many many kids, and if they have daughters they keep trying and trying like crazy till they have a boy, this is so sad. Husbands blame the wife for not being capable of giving a male child, and this is ridiculous... women have much pressure, are not respected it's not a matter of chosing the sex of the baby, but to learn to respect females, and have equality, nothing more, i think, and we agree in that :) Happy new year to you too, and to all!
