三国演义-翻译(第一章） I have translated a chapter of the book 三国演义, its a middle school level story about 刘备，曹操 and others. I've included the Chinese and my translation. Please note I have not always directly translated by changed the text slightly for ease of reading. Thanks for reading! 东汉末年，超真腐败，农民起义不断，天下动荡不安。汉灵帝下诏书让各地州县招兵买马， 镇压农民起义， 匡扶汉室。 河北涿县人刘备，字玄德， 原是汉京帝的儿子中山靖王刘胜的后代，因父亲早死，家境日益贫困，只得靠卖草鞋织席字为生， 用攒来的钱奉养母亲。这一年，刘备刚满二十八岁，他站在招兵布告前看了一阵子，不由的长吁短叹。 忽然，身后传来一个大嗓门儿的声音： “大丈夫不去前线为国效力，站在这儿叹什么气！” 刘备回头一看，只见眼前站着一个彪形大汉头像豹子，眼像铜铃，满脸钢针似的胡须，好不威风！刘备拱手问道： “这位壮士叫什么名字？” At the end of the Eastern Han dynasty, the government was corrupt and the peasants were in a constant state or revolt. Emperor HanLing began to raise an army to suppress the peasants, by offering the lords gifts of horses and the promise of power. LiuBei of HeBeizhuo region, his name was written as XuanDe, was originally a king. He was the son of the HanJing Emperor, but the emporer died prematurely and this made LiuBei’s home-life more and more difficult. He scrapped together enough money to stay alive and support his female elders by selling shoes and woven mats. In the year of this story he was only 28 years old, it was at this point he saw an announcement for the ongoing army recruitment when with a moan and groan he heard a voice from behind him say: “Husband, don’t head to the battlefront for the sake of the effect of showing the country your strength. Stay here and save your breath!” LiuBei turned his head to look, he only regarded a big man who’s head held a resemblance to tiger stripes. His face resembled a leopard, with eyes like copper bells a full round face laced with a threaded neat moustache. LiuBei clasped his hands infront of him respectfully and asked: “Warrior, please tell me your name.”
