Udtale: [ˈhoːəðˌsdað] ð is almost the same sound as in English "with" (it helps to put your tongue out of your mouth and try to lick your chin)

If you leave out the first d completely, it will sound wrong, but you are right, it is quite subtle.

Could I leave aside the first d in the spoken languege or would it appear too improperly? Anyway mange tak for tips :D

Dav Tomek! The two ds are soft, so they are pronounced the same way. Since the first d is followed by s, it probably disappears a little.. Listen (although it sounds like the initial H was chopped off): http://www.forvo.com/search/hovedstad/ It is exactly like "hoved", followed by "stad".
