हे काय आहे?
हे मराठीचं पाठ्यपुस्तक आहे.

मराठी कसे आहे?
मराठी खूप कठीण आहे.

तो कसा आहे?  How is he?  तो = That male.

ती कशी आहे?  How is she? ती  = That female

ते कसे आहेत?  How are they? ते = they when we are referring to many males. Or

                  How is he? ते = That male, when we are referring to any elder male, to show respect

                                         towards him.

ते is also used for neuter gender.

ते खेळणे कसे आहे? How is that toy?

त्या कशा आहेत? How are they? त्या = they when we are referring to many females. Or

                    How is she?    त्या = That female, when we are referring to any elder female,

                                                 to show respect towards her.

तो/ती/ ते/ त्या (that) is used when the person/persons is/are not present while we talk about him/her/them or he/she/they is/are away. (at a greater distance from us.)

In the same way, words हा ही हे ह्या (this) are used. Here the person/persons is/are present while we talk about them or they are present near us. Rest usage is same as above.

e.g. हा कसा आहे? how is he? हा = this male.
