mòng dou jāt tàuh jīn/máng dàoh yī tóu yān I know this as an expression, it means when someone is very very busy? But what is it broken down in its literal terms?

The literal meaning of each word: 忙（máng）: busy 到（dào）: to reach (a place)/ until (a time) 一頭（yī tóu）: a head 煙（yān）:smoke／steam translated literally, it would sound something like 'so busy that steam is coming out from a persons head'
