How important is it to learn to write in the cursive way? Hi guys! I am currently trying to learn Russian and I have a question about writing it. I heard that it's important to learn how to write in the cursive way but at the same time I have seen people saying that one should not worry about it. Writing both in cursive or in the keyboard way is extremely hard for me as I didn't have a good childhood, writing Russian is like drawing and it's never been my favourite hobby hehe. So I tend to mix cursive (in the way we do in latin languages), the computer way and some of the russian cursive that I find easier than the computer one. I tried to learn the cursive but I found it too complicated and thought " Why should I worry about that "? So I'd like your opinion and below you have a picture of my writing in Russian, I took some 6 minutes to write it all since it's difficult for me to do these letters that I am not used to. Looking forward to your answers!

Hi, I think writing in "cursive" way is just a more native way, which helps people to write faster. Personally I mix both way of writing, because it's faster for me to write "т" instead of "m". And people can understand that easilly. So as long as you understand these cursives, it's fine :) You don't need to write it yourself.

In fact, almost everyone has their own way to draw letters. You way of drawing capital "М"s makes them look like "Ж". "у" and "ч" look alike and "д" schould be more distinct. "Э" looks like "З", but I suppose it was a mistake. In generall your handwritting is understandable and rather nice. I don't see any reason for you to learn to write in a cursive way if it takes too much time and effort. There are plenty of more improtant things to learn.
