Translation of 白日 by 大象体操
I am a beginner in Chinese, but I would be thankful for the mountain of corrections I will receive :)
The order below is chars, pinyin and then my attempt at an English translation. I would also be thankful for any advice on any words that aren't particularly normal or common :)
2.白日
今天我松松的 做个梦 Jīntiān wǒ sōng sōng de zuò gè mèng - Today I had a loose dream
Here 松松 does not mean "loose", it means you are carefree, at leisure, unfettered, with ease etc. So the sentence translates as, Today, a dream came to me easily.
踏着白色浪花 冰冰的 tàzhe báisè lànghuā bīngbīng de - Inspired by the white ice spray
踏 means "to step on" 着 is a particle functioning as a continuing state, like the "ing" in English to change a verb into continuous tense. 浪 means wave, 花 means the foam as they like flowers (poetically speaking) Hence, stepping on the snowy white cold foam of the waves
是谁在说说话 像唱歌 shì shuí zài shuō shuōhuà xiàng chànggē - He/She who likes to talk, likes to sing
谁 = who. 是 = is, are etc. Repeating a character is like 着 to indicate a continuing state of action. 像 = like (as in similar to). Who is talking, as if in song
翻个身我看见 影子摇啊摇 fāngè shēn wǒ kànjiàn yǐngzi yáo a yáo - (Not sure at all)
搖啊搖 is same as 搖搖. The particle 啊 functions as a pause, something like the English "Oh". In other words, the action continued and the stopped for a quick moment before continuing. As I turned, I saw a shadow, swishing, swishing...
我是我自己的宇宙 wǒ shì wǒ zìjǐ de yǔzhòu - I am my own (or in my own?) universe
安静地在自己里诞生 ānjìng de zài zìjǐ lǐ dànshēng - (Not sure at all)
地 here does not mean "earth" but a structural particle that functions like the "ly" suffix to change the verb into an adverb. In linguistics mumbo jumbo, "It used before a verb or adjective, linking it to preceding modifying adverbial adjunct" Quietly I was born within myself in other words, "to renew oneself"
生长成树或一个山洞 shēngzhǎng chéng shù huò yīgè shāndòng - Grow into a tree or a cave
I grew into a tree or a cave,
或一阵忽然的风 huò yīzhèn hūrán de fēng - or a sudden burst of wind
or as a sudden gust of wind
我是一只长不大的虫 wǒ shì yī zhǐ cháng bù dà de chóng - I grow up as a worm
I am only a insect that won't/can't grow into adulthood. He dreamt that he is an insect and obliquely about his own insignificance
缓慢地抬头看着天空 huǎnmàn
de táitóu kànzhe tiānkōng - Slowly and unhurriedly, I looking up at the sky
世间万物都那么的大 shìjiān wànwù dōu nàme de dà - Everything in this world is so big
于是我唱出声 yúshì wǒ chàng chū shēng - Therefore I sing out in words. "Sing" means to make a melodious sound. It has the same logic as the title of the song, "The Sound of Silence" an oxymoron in meaning but logically correct.
Thanks!
