silly girl I heard few times some guys calling some girls silly. I don't understand exactly the meaning and when it should be used. I know that means "stupid" in some way, but to me sounds like nice way to say to somebody that is stupid.

I heard a few times some guys calling girls silly. I don't understand exactly its meaning and when it should be used. I know that means "stupid" in some way, but to me it sounds like a nice way to call somebody stupid.

Very well written! Yes, you are quite right, it means much like you say. Generally, it means illogical, frivolous, irrational, ... but not in a bad sense. It is rarely an insult, unlike "stupid".

Generally, someone saying "silly girl" is calling them stupid, and its very belittling, so I would argue that it is offensive. Calling someone silly isn't always offensive though; if your friend tells you a joke and you say, "you're so silly!" it wouldn't be rude like saying "silly girl."
