"Even though I've been away from [place] for so long, its scent still finds me in my daily life." "The scent of [place] lingers in my everyday experiences, reminding me of the precious memories I made there." "In the midst of my daily routine, I often catch a whiff of [place], evoking nostalgia." These sentences are given by ChatGPT, with a mention that they sound poignant. Do they sound so to native English speakers? Like, do they give off the sad feeling?

It does indeed evoke sadness. I would just point out that the phrase "catch a whiff" doesn't really match the poetic tone of the rest of the text. Perhaps "sense the aroma" or "note the aroma" would be better choices.

Why would the smells of your daily life remind you of something distant? It should be something that ISN’T an everyday smell that reminds you of a different setting. For example, the smell of the ocean reminds you of your vacation at the ocean, or the smell of baking cookies reminds you of when your mom made you cookies etc. You need to be more specific about what you are actually smelling that triggers this connection.
