Hi, I have seen "catch a chill" in a dictionary recently. But I am confused that what's the difference between 'catch a chill' and 'catch a cold'. Are they the same thing? Many thanks X

They are probably not different illnesses exactly. A cold and a chill are similar but a chill is much milder and lasts a day or two. A cold has stronger symptoms and lasts longer. People might also say they've caught (or have) a slight cold, rather than a chill.

They have the same meaning but "Catch a chill" can also mean there was cold air that made you shiver.
