Can anyone tell me the difference between bastante and lo bastante.
I found the following sentence in which lo bastante was used.
"estoy casada con un hombre con un trabajo lo bastante bien pagado", which I translated as " I am married to a man with a job enough well paid.
I would normally have used "bastante bien pagado" and do not understand why lo bastante has been used . Unless of course they are interchangeable
thank you
Richard

“Bastante” means quite/enough. Example: Tengo bastante dinero = “I have enough money.”
“Lo bastante” kind of means sufficiently. The “lo” turns it into something like “the sufficient amount.” Example: No soy lo bastante alto = “I’m not tall enough.”
So, "Me casé con un hombre bastante bien pagado" = “I married a quite well-paid man.” But, "Me casé con un hombre lo bastante bien pagado" = “I married a man well-paid enough (to live comfortably, for example).”

Bastante = adjective
Tengo bastante tiempo para relajarme un poco.
Lo bastante = abstract (subject)
Lo bastante tengo para el viaje.

It's very common and can be found in other scenarios of quantities such as "lo suficiente, lo más grande, lo poco...".
It's another way to say the same thing with a different structure.

Entonces:
• bastante = suficiente / enough / bastante / quite / rather / pretty (según contexto).
• lo bastante = lo suficiente (para algo). Podría traducirse como enough / sufficiently / the necessary amount.
