in Chinese "些" and "几" never be used singly. they alway be used in such words, for example "那些" means “those” 这些 means "these" "好些" means "be better" - in these usages, 些 always follow adj or adv ,means "more" "哪些" means "which" - plural "几" is alway behind "个", "几个" means several，in interrogative sentence it means" how many ".

1.有句俗语：无三不成几。As the proverb goes, not more than three can't say to be “几". 所以，几是指多于3，小于9的数目。so: 9 > 几 (ji3) > 3 ；it mean a general number between 3 to 9. If the number between 10- 20,you can say 十几，between 20-30, can say 二十几...etc. 2. 几 it mean how many in questions. 3. 些：it mean some, a few... 4. the difference: 几+量词，几(ji3)+ measurement;些(xie1) no need to add measurement. for example: 我有几个苹果。 你有几个苹果？ 我有些苹果。
