'I hope I would' and 'I hope I will'
I've just watched an episode of True Blood, in which Sookie says ' I hope I would.' in respond to Eric's question, and a second later she corrects her answer as 'I hope I will.' I wonder what is the difference between the usage of 'would' and 'will', and when to use which is appropriate.
Thanks to anyone who could help with my first question here.

"Would" implies something conditional. What is left unsaid is:
"I hope that I would if ..."
So she hopes that she would do something if certain conditions are met.
"Will" is unconditional.
She hopes she will do something, regardless of the conditions.
The second form is more definite.

The answer is in the movie. It would be great if you gave us the context.
Eric clearly asks Sookie: "Would you....(if...........)?"
Her first answer is correct: "I hope I would."
But then there is mood change. Sookie realizes she is being asked a direct question.
You see, if you take these things out of context, it is really hard to explain.
