everything's easy when you know how :) I say it's difficult to speak English proficiently, but it's easy to learn some phrases and to begin your studies. It depends on how good you want to be; native? Maybe 20 years living in England if you have the aptitude; speaking it well enough to get your message across will take a few years. Being understood with small sentences will take a few weeks. Using google translator and being understood by using bad English will take you a few minutes :)

I think it is, but then again, I grew up in the US. :) I've heard English can be hard to learn, but that learning English with Russian as your native language is easier than learning Russian with English being your native language.

Privet, it is hard for people to learn any language which has a totally different alphabet from their native language. There are many excellent teachers in Italki who can help you with spoken English.

English is difficult to speak because the rules of the language are not very consistent. The best way to improve your English is listening to native speakers and trying to imitate their sound! Listening to music is also helpful. Plus it's fun!
