In spanish(Puerto Rico), the phrase "I love you" has two meanings. Usualy if you are saying it to a friend, it means " te quiero" because it is a love for a friend or somebody that is not family. If you use "I love you" for people very close to you like mother, father, sons, wife, ect, then the word takes a more profound meaning and it is said "te amo". It is a more intense feeling of the phrase "i love you". Hope you understand!
