I suggest that you use the word 'please ' the next time you ask for help. Here are the synonyms for the verb "crease" . crumple, rumple, pucker, crinkle, fold, ridge, double up, crimp, ruck up, corrugate . Examples:1. Most suits crease a bit when you're travelling. 2. Liz sat down carefully, so as not to crumple her skirt. 3. Don't wrinkle my dress! 4. I want to pleat my skirt, but I don't know how to do it.

Wrinkle and crumple are pretty similar but crumple is more commonly used when the object is wrinkled and squeezed. Crumple is often followed by the word 'up'.For example: I crumple up paper into a ball if I want to throw it in the trash. It is true that the paper would be wrinkled but since it is also squeezed into a ball you say "crumpled up". If I un-crumpled the paper ball and laid the paper flat it would still be wrinkled but no longer crumpled up.

THE REST of the ANSWER Crumple or Crumble??? - I answered for crumble Crumple - to break into small pieces, to break down or to break apart. :: Alex's notes: This applies to all kinds of things, not just a smooth surface. It also suggets a certain level of damage. It does not necessarily mean what is crumbled can not be used, but it does suggest the change is pretty big. EXAMPLE: Their house is crumbling. I crumbled the bread in tiny pieces to put into my salad. :: Alex's notes: We do, or also can use this of flat objects or smooth objects as well. EXAMPLE: I crumbled the paper. The difference between wrikled and crumbled - is the amount of change and type of change.....a wrinkle affects the surface more - where crumble is a bigger change in the whole shape. A wrinkled paper is still mostly flat, not perfectly flat but fairly flat ---- a crumbled paper is more like a ball. Pleat - to fold cloth made by doubling the material upon itself and then pressing or stitching it into place :: Alex's notes: a pleat deals mostly or maybe even only with cloth - we would never say I 'pleated' the paper. (see my note later) - The two most common clothes that have a pleats are a) skirt and b) pants. The requirement here is that the cloth actually has been folded over EXMPLE: Her skirt has many pleats in it. This means it has been folded over more many times. Rarely.... somebody would use this word with something other than cloth - but when they do, they're doing so to describe something that in a way to refer back to cloth - I will send some pictures of pleated pants and a pleated skirt :-) Alex

Wrinkle - to cause or make a small ridge or furrow on a smooth surface :: Alex's notes: the verb to wrinkle suggests that something has changed or altered a smooth surface - and in a random or uneven way. Also this change is not great or very big. This is the big difference between wrinkle and crease. EXAMPLE: I wrikled the paper :: the paper was smooth, I changed or altered it so now it is not smooth, and although I did this, it is not so greatly changed that maybe the paper is useless or very damaged. We use this word with skin and getting old, but the meaning is now extended to imply something even more. We now use this word, as a noun to describe a problem which might hurt some plan or idea. EXAMPLE: I was going to drive home for Christmas, but my car is broken, so there's a wrinkle in my plan. Crease - to put a line, mark, or ridge made by or as if by folding a pliable substance :: Alex's notes: unlike a wrinkle, the crease happens with some pattern or some design and in fact, it is usually a straight line. If you fold a paper evenly or fold it in half, and then open it back up - you can say either 1) The paper has a crease in it - or I creased the paper or 2) The paper has a fold in it. :: More notes: the difference between crese and pleat - see the definition of pleat below. A crease doesn't mean that something must be currently be floded over, just that is has this line or mark that could have come from being folded.
