How to choose a favorite from so many great ones ... 红高粱 (Red Sorghum), 活着 (To Live), 霸王别姬 (Farewell My Concubine), 紫蝴蝶 (Purple Butterfly), 木人新妇 (Wooden Man's Bride), 盲山 (Blind Mountain), 小裁縫 (Little Chinese Seamstress), 赤壁 (Red Cliff), 天浴 (Xiu Xiu the Sent Down Girl), 色戒 (Lust Caution) ... I could on. I love the historical dramas, both ancient and recent. I have over 80 copies on DVD. Forget all the martial-arts/good cop--bad cop/crime lord "junk" out of Hong Kong. The modern romantic drivel is also not on my schedule. If you forced me to pick an all-time favorite ... 我的父亲母亲 (The Road Home) -- Zhang Ziyi‘s first starring role. In my next life, I would choose to come back as that young school teacher who has captured her heart :) She certainly captured mine.

When people here expend time and effort to answer your questions, it is common courtesy for you to respond in some way. A simple "thank you" would be enough -- at least to show that you actually read the answer.

I don't know if you would call this a "Chinese movie" but I am in the middle of watching "The Flowers of War" that was about the Japanese invasion of Nanking in 1937. I can't watch too much about this historical event in one sitting. It is so sad what happened to the people of that city and other areas of Chinas during this invasion. I've also watched a funny Chinese remake of the movie: "What Women Want": http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1667150/ I've watched other Chinese movies with my Chinese friends but I can only watch Chinese movies when they have English sub-titles.

Correction in Question : Do you watch Chinese movies ? Which one is your favorite ? Answer : I don't watch Chinese movies. There are some Chinese movies that appear in some channels here in India, but they are dubbed in Hindi / English. So I don't know their names. But I have seen movies of Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee (some of Jet Lee). My Favourite ones are Enter the Dragon and Drunken Master.
